Urban tribes and their impact on mental health: A look from Psychology

Urban tribes are social groups that share common interests, values, and lifestyles. These groups are characterized by their identity and form of expression, which can significantly influence the mental health of their members.

Some urban tribes can offer significant social support, a safe space to share experiences, and a network of people with similar interests. Belonging to an urban tribe can have positive effects on mental health, as it provides a sense of community and mutual support.

In other cases, belonging to an urban tribe can generate conflicts and difficulties with mental health. Pressures to conform to certain ideals or norms established by the group can lead to problems with self-esteem, social anxiety, depression, or risky behaviors such as substance abuse.
