La Comunidad Terapéutica Margaritas se puede definir como una institución psiquiátrica y psicoterapéutica que utiliza diversas herramientas de tratamiento para tratar las distintos trastornos psiquiátricos.

Muchos trastornos psiquiátricos implican la falta de conciencia de enfermedad por lo cual el paciente no asistirá voluntariamente a tratamiento y será necesario internarlo si pone en riesgo la vida de él, la de la familia o el entorno social.

La razón la puede tener un paciente aunque este enfermo si sus opiniones son verdaderas y no por la posición de poder de un miembro del equipo este tendrá la razón. La convivencia y la comunicación generaran en si misma salud mental, siempre y cuando sean tratados con respeto y con trato humano.
