Comunidad Terapéutica Margaritas offers Voluntary and Involuntary Psychiatric Inpatient services for people who require treatment and who, for various reasons, cannot receive it on an outpatient basis.
Some severe cases require hospitalization so the patient can be under the care of specialized staff and their treatment and progress can be monitored.
The length of hospital stay will depend on the severity of the disorder and the patient's response to treatment; it may be short-term or long-term, and this will be determined by the psychiatrist.
It is important to note that hospitalized psychiatric patients have rights and responsibilities throughout their stay. These include having a medical record, receiving a diagnosis, having their personal and clinical information kept confidential, receiving information about the process (which, in some cases, must be shared with their family), and receiving treatment and monitoring of their condition.
Hospitalization Criteria
When a person presents mental conditions that may represent a risk to themselves or others and whose judgment capacity is not sufficient or adequate to make decisions.

Voluntary Psychiatric Hospitalization
When a voluntary psychiatric hospitalization is carried out, a signed request from the person to be hospitalized and the indication of the medical staff in charge of admission are required; both documents must be signed, the reason for hospitalization must be indicated, and the family members must be informed.
When is a patient discharged after voluntary psychiatric hospitalization?
- Once their clinical condition has stabilized or they have recovered.
- If the reason for and objectives of hospitalization have been met.
- If they show improvement.
- If they require transfer to another institution
- At the request of family members or legally authorized persons, in cases of voluntary admission, the patient may request discharge, provided they complete and sign the necessary document. Voluntary discharge may occur due to refusal of the treatment or diagnosis assigned by the institution.
- By order of a legal authority.
For cases of voluntary psychiatric hospitalization, the Margaritas Therapeutic Community has an emergency psychiatric transport service throughout the Mexican Republic 365 days a year and with highly trained personnel to respond to psychiatric emergencies.
