Margaritas
Therapeutic Community
We are a clinic that treats psychiatric and addiction patients.
Our model allows patients to be in an inclusive environment, interact with the community, and thrive within it. Over time, we have seen excellent results with the types of therapies and workshops we offer, which set us apart from other institutions, psychiatric clinics, and halfway houses in Mexico.
We have a dedicated ward for the treatment of alcoholism and addiction.
Services we offer:
- Staying and treatment for patients for short, long, or permanent periods.
- 24/7 psychiatric transport service, 365 days a year, within and outside the country.
- Nursing, nursing assistant, caregiver, and therapeutic companion services within our facilities or wherever needed (hospitals, nursing homes, private residences, etc.).
Inpatient Care Plan
Upon patient discharge, a security deposit of MX$ 20,00000 is required, along with an advance weekly payment of MX$ 13,39800 (MX$ 1,91400 per day in a shared room, maximum 4 people) or MX$ 26,79600 (3,82800 per day in a private room).
The above prices include 24-hour nursing care for medication administration, psychological services providing individual, group, and occupational therapy, educational materials for activities, Zumba and Tai Chi classes, physical conditioning, and addiction counseling sessions.
The Clinic's protocol stipulates that, for 4 days, the patient will remain in isolation without calls or visitors and will have a 24-hour therapeutic caregiver for their safety. This service costs MX$ 82940 for a 12-hour shift. (MX$ 1,50800 24 hours, total for 4 days MX$ 6,03200), and a COVID-19 test will be administered (MX$ 3,70000).
These costs do not include medications, psychiatrist consultation, laboratory tests, transportation to appointments or laboratories, personal items, or a therapeutic companion.
The Clinic contract must be completed, and a copy of the IFE (voter ID) of the family member or guarantor who will be responsible for the patient must be submitted.
Patient identification is also required, as well as a copy of the medical record, if available.
If you have medical records and prescriptions, please bring copies.
- Copy of the legal guardian's INE (National Electoral Institute ID)
- Copy of the patient's INE and CURP (Unique Population Registry Code)
- Proof of address no older than 2 months
To aid the patient's recovery, the use of telephones, computers, or any other electronic devices is not permitted. If authorized, it is only with a doctor's prescription, during designated hours, and with a therapeutic companion.
Regarding the items required for admission, the following are requested and must be clearly labeled with the patient's name or a specific mark:
Shampoo, bath soap, sponge, shower sandals, two towels, seven changes of warm and comfortable clothing, and two hooded jackets. Clothing should preferably be worn, as psychological activities tend to stain clothes.
Slip-on sneakers and socks are also required.
For medical treatment, once the patient has been assigned a psychiatrist, communication will be direct with them. This includes payments for consultations, medication schedules, and authorizations for calls and visits (the clinic only monitors visiting hours, not authorizations).
The duration of psychiatric treatment and any questions related to it will also be addressed directly by the assigned doctor.
We have two clinics:
- Head Clinic: Topilejo, Tlalpan District Mx City
- Bugambilias Therapeutic Community: Cancún, Quintana Roo
Psychiatric Ward:
We are a therapeutic community with a patented care model. In addition to pharmacological treatments prescribed by psychiatrists, this model includes three clinical psychologists who provide a monthly program of activities. These activities begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m.
These therapies include occupational therapy, individual sessions for which each patient is assigned a psychologist for individual cognitive behavioral therapy, and group therapy.
Furthermore, we have instructors who lead movement therapy (yoga, Zumba, etc.) from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A physician is on call daily, making rounds to patients, keeping the attending physicians informed of their progress, and addressing any issues that may arise. Nursing services are available 24 hours a day for medication monitoring and management.
Addiction Treatment:
- Phase I:
- Morning meetings, supported by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous literature and daily reflections. Cathartic meetings at the Margaritas Institutional Group.
- Phase II:
- Personalized support for each patient who requires it, raising their awareness of the seriousness of alcoholism and addiction and their impact on their family, social, and work environments. Work with the family and therapeutic support.
- Phase III:
- Sharing an important part of the work with the patients involves sharing the recovery of one alcoholic or addict with another.
- Phase IV:
- Ongoing treatment and relapse prevention through a continuous follow-up program after patients' discharge.
As a complement to addiction therapy, we have three psychologists specializing in addiction. One is assigned to provide individual therapy, while the other two participate in group therapy sessions. We also have two fitness instructors who work with our patients daily.
To arrange a transfer, we require a responsible family member and two witnesses with official identification to sign a pre-printed document authorizing us to transport the patient, even if they are reluctant.
A therapist and two other people accompany the patient. The therapist's goal is to provide therapy and encourage the patient to seek medical attention. In 90 to 95 percent of cases, the patient is taken willingly. On rare occasions, patients resist. If this occurs, a stretcher with restraint straps is used during transport.
Depending on the hospital or location, the patient may be lightly sedated to keep them calm if they become agitated.
